Izvestia reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to identify sources of funding and a work plan for the complete elimination of environmental damage at Lake Baikal.
The head of state expressed the opinion that "the first urgent task is to eliminate environmental damage, to conduct a full reclamation of contaminated areas". It is reported that in the framework of the meeting on environmental development of Lake Baikal the president instructed to identify the sources of funding, plans and specific executors.
The publication reports that now the Russian leader is on a visit to the Republic of Buryatia. As part of the trip, Putin held meetings on environmental issues in the region, inspected the exposition of the tourist center of the Baikal State Natural Biosphere Reserve and talked with volunteers.
