The new Samsung LTE-modem provides a record data transfer speed

Samsung Electronics reported on the development of the advanced LTE modem, intended for use in next-generation mobile devices.

Recall that earlier this year, the South Korean giant introduced the flagship mobile processor Exynos 9 Series with an index of 8895. This product, in addition to eight processing cores and graphics accelerator ARM Mali-G71, received LTE-modem Cat. 16 LTE. The chip provides data download speed up to 1 Gbit / s and data transmission speed from the subscriber up to 150 Mbit / s.

Now Samsung has announced the development of a modem Cat. 18 LTE. Declared support for 6CA technology (aggregation of six carrier frequencies), as well as 4 ? 4 MIMO (Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output). The technology of aggregation of carriers consists in a combination of a certain number of carrier components with frequency bands of different widths. Thus, the speed of data transmission and network performance are increased. Compared with the previous version of the technology, 6CA provides faster and more stable data transfer.

In addition, to achieve maximum data transfer speed, this technology supports the eLAA (Enhanced Licensed Assisted Access) scheme,. By aggregating the frequencies of the licensed and non-licensed spectrum on both the downlink and the uplink, the eLAA also allows carriers to use all the capabilities of their equipment.

It is alleged that the new modem theoretically allows you to download information from the network at speeds up to 1.2 Gbit / s. This bandwidth, for example, allows you to download a full-length movie in HD-quality in just ten seconds.

The new modem will enable the use of such services as high-resolution video transmissions in real time and calls in video conferencing mode.

We add that the modem Cat. 18 LTE, according to rumors, will receive the future flagship processor Snapdragon 845 development of Qualcomm. This chip is also credited with the presence of eight processing cores (quartets ARM Cortex-A75 and ARM Cortex-A53) and high-performance graphics accelerator Adreno 630.
