"Kaspersky Lab" conducted a study of threats to financial institutions in 2016. According to the results obtained, corporations suffer more and more damage from DDoS attacks. According to statistics, in 2016 every fourth bank (26%) faced DDoS attacks. In general, for financial institutions, this figure was 22%. Average damage caused by attacks of this type for banks amounted to $ 1.17 million, and for the enterprises of other spheres - $ 952 thousand.

52% of affected organizations faced the inaccessibility or deterioration of the quality of public web services for a long time. In 43% of cases, the DDoS attack was used as a disguise to conduct other malicious operations. The purpose of such attacks is increasingly becoming banking sites, but this is not the only vulnerable point. Almost the same number of respondents (48%) underwent DDoS attacks on their Internet banking and online services.

"In the banking sector, reputation is critical, and it is inextricably linked to security. If online banking services become unavailable, this undermines customer confidence. To effectively protect against cyberncidents associated with Internet banking, companies need to be more prepared for them. In particular, pay more attention to solutions that are able to recognize DDoS-attacks very quickly and reflect them, "- said Alexey Kiselev, head of Kaspersky DDoS Protection Kaspersky Lab.
