Partial vision correction harms the eyes

Millions of people in the world are blinded due to the fact that they were wrongly corrected vision in childhood. The study, which was supposed to confirm the truth of the conventional approach, was interrupted, as it gave the opposite results expected.

For many decades, ophthalmologists practiced partial correction of myopia, prescribing glasses or contact lenses that focused light not on the retina, but in front of it. "It was made of the best intentions," says eye specialist Daniel O. "Daniel O" Leary, an employee of the Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge (Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge). He and his colleagues conducted a study of 94 children in Malaysia, hoping to prove the benefit of "partial correction". However, the results turned out to be completely opposite.

In myopic people, the eye muscles are too weak to make the lens focus light coming from distant objects, directly on the retina. Instead, the focus is in front of the retina, causing the image to become blurry. Using glasses, you can make the light focus directly on the retina. But when a person looks through glasses at closer objects, the focus is behind the retina. And, according to the conventional theory (which, incidentally, there is no really convincing evidence) to "find" it, the eyeball lengthens, and this can lead to the most dramatic consequences, up to the detachment of the retina and glaucoma, and in the end, and To blindness. And then the oculists apply the "partial correction" method, prescribing glasses that focus light not on the retina, but directly in front of it. For many years it was thought that this prevents the lengthening of the eyeball. As it turned out, this is not true. Those children who were only partially corrected vision lost it significantly faster than those who were completely corrected with myopia. According to O'Leary, the eye is not able to determine whether behind or behind the retina is the focus. It just lengthens if the image is blurred, and this may mean that not wearing glasses - it's even worse than incomplete vision correction.
