In the new beta version of the Telegram application, it was possible to share with other users and in public channels the proxy server settings that are used to bypass locks. According to the intention of the creators of the service, this will allow to quickly restore the service in case of a blockage in the territory of Russia.

Now the user Telegram can configure the proxy server for himself, and then send the link for configuration to another person from the contact list, to the chat, channel or through another application. The recipient, clicking on the link, will see a proposal to apply the same settings to his application.

When this function appears in the main Telegram client and in the iOS version, it is still unknown. In the latter, in principle, it is not possible to configure a proxy server. A beta version of the Android application is available on Telegram Beta.

In versions of Telegram for desktops (Mac and Windows), it is also possible to configure a proxy server. Earlier the messenger published the instruction on using the function of circumvention of locks on desktop computers.

Last week, Roskomnadzor threatened to block Telegram, if the founder of the service, Pavel Durov, did not agree with the requirements of the agency and would not take shape in the register of information dissemination organizers. At the same time, the department intends to receive keys to decrypt the correspondence in order to fight terrorists.

After the publication of messages about the possible blocking of Telegram in Russia, the application came out on top in the top 10 most popular applications in the Russian App Store.
