According to The Investor, referring to The Bell, Samsung Electronics is currently considering the sale of its Tianjin Samsung LED unit, which is engaged in LED products.
As a buyer of the unit is a certain Hong Kong private investment company, which currently conducts legal due diligence of the enterprise.
The source adds that the sale of the Tianjin Samsung LED unit will be part of a global strategy for the restructuring of the LED business of Samsung, which in recent years has suffered losses due to strong competition from Chinese manufacturers of more affordable products.
Ultimately, Samsung should change the approach by starting to order LED products from Chinese suppliers.
By the way, LG Innotek, which for years recorded a deterioration in sales, has already done so.
