In a couple of years, India will outpace the United States and become the world's second largest smartphone market, Telecom Lead reports with reference to Statista analysts.
According to experts, by 2019, the Indian market will account for almost 15% of the world shipments of communicators, while the contribution of the United States is expected to be within 10%.
The largest market for communicators will remain China - in China will be supplied almost half of the devices produced on the planet. It is also expected that the fourth in the list of countries leading in smartphone sales will be Brazil with a 4%.
Experts note that the global smartphone market has crossed the 1 billion device mark in 2013, and by 2019 the communicator industry should approach the two-billion mark.
Experts pay attention to the high dynamics of the Indian market. So, in the first quarter of 2017, smartphone shipments to this country grew by 15% and reached 29 million units, while in the PRC only growth was registered by 4%.
According to Counterpoint Research estimates, in January-March, communicator manufacturers from all over the world released a total of 375 million devices, which is 11% more than a year ago, when the market registered a 2% decline. The five leading brands included Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Oppo and Vivo, and Chinese vendors recorded significantly better dynamics than the industry leaders.
