Izvestia reports that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reacted to the statement of former US State Department chief John Kerry who, speaking to students at the Kennedy School at Harvard University, recommended everyone to learn Russian.

Kerry said: "I've always been asked how you can influence the decisions of the authorities. I used to say that you need to participate in elections. Or, for example, get a degree in Harvard. Recently everything has changed. I would say that with this administration it is necessary to buy a textbook on the Russian language, "the Federal News Agency.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the advice of former US Secretary of State John Kerry to American students to learn Russian. "TV Center" notes that she stressed that after Kerry's words it became clear "why the previous Administration so hastily decided to" establish "relations with Cuba".

The diplomat also recalled that after a 30-year hiatus the Department of the State Institute of the Russian Language at the Faculty of Foreign Languages ??of the University of Havana resumed its work.

As Maria Zakharova noted on her Facebook page, with the previous US administration "one should have bought a volume of Vladimir Vladimirovich (Mayakovsky) on the eve of the anniversary of the 2017 anniversary". Then she quoted an excerpt from the poem "Our Youth":.

"If I were a Negro of advanced years, and then, without dejection and laziness, I would learn Russian only for what Lenin was talking to them," wrote the Foreign Ministry spokesman.

Zakharova at the same time called Moscow's miscalculation the fact that the Mayakovsky volume was not given to the representatives of the previous US administration.
