The match of the 15th round of the UPL between Metalist 1925 and Veres in Zhitomir was not completed due to problems with lighting. The game was interrupted several times, and in the 10th minute the main referee of the match, Vitaly Romanov, decided to postpone its end to another day.
According to the vice-president of “Metalist 1925” Yuriy Korotun, there was a sharp power surge at the stadium in Zhitomir, due to which the lighting system equipment burned out.
Technical personnel tried to replace the old machines with new ones, but failed to stabilize the light operation.
" We are ready to provide all documents confirming force majeure,” Korotun noted on UPL TV, adding that the club offered to play the match the next day and was even ready to cover Veres’s living expenses, but no agreement could be reached.
The chief referee, the match delegate and the teams agreed that they will not finish the match today, and further decisions will be made by the UPL management. Metalist faces technical defeat.
