The European External Action Service said that the actions of law enforcement agencies in the course of mass detentions contradict the statements of the official Minsk.

"The European Union has closely followed the reaction of the Belarusian authorities to recent demonstrations. In recent days, we have seen reports of detentions on various charges, including journalists. Such suppression of freedom of expression and assembly is in contradiction with the declared by Belarus policy of democratization and its international obligations, "the statement of the European External Action Service.

Despite the international calls for restraint, the reaction of the security services was indiscriminate and disproportionate, the EU stressed..

"In this regard, we recall that the use of force against peaceful demonstrators can not be justified under any circumstances," the statement stresses.

The EU was called upon to release all newly detained civilians.

"The steps taken by Belarus to observe universal fundamental freedoms, the rule of law and human rights will remain the key to the formation of the European Union's relations with this country," the EU report says..

As it was reported, in Minsk law enforcement bodies of Belarus detained several hundreds of people before and during the uncoordinated opposition action "March of disgruntled Belarusians". There are no exact data on the number of detainees, the authorities do not disclose official information about the detentions.
