Russian political scientist Andrei Piontkovsky said that the liquidation of former State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov was executed on orders from Moscow, and this crime is a classic "sacred murder".

This Piontkovsky said in an interview with the publication "Russian Monitor".

He drew attention to the hysteria on Russian TV channels, which began after the murder of a former deputy of the State Duma.

"With all due respect to the deceased, he was not a person of such a large scale that the entire Russian agitprop literally stood on its hind legs," said Piontkovsky.

He also pointed to the unusually inconsistent speech by the Speaker of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

"I have only one explanation for this:

they feared that the killer would survive and begin to give evidence," the political scientist said..

He believes that the murder of Voronenkov is a signal not so much for dissidents, but for those who are included in the category of potential apostates among the political elite of the Russian Federation who are thinking of "jumping off," like the late ex-deputy.

"And the indicative execution of Voronenkov is a clear signal to this public that they will not let anyone jump off," added Piontkovsky.
