People who eat a portion of fish a day rich in unsaturated fatty acids, such as saury or horse mackerel, are less likely to have liver cancer. This conclusion was reached after 11 years of research by the National Institute of Oncology of Japan.

Scientists have studied the data of 90 thousand people aged 45 to 74 years for 11 years. Depending on the frequency and volumes of fish consumption, the participants in the experiment were divided into five groups.

As a result, it was found that the risk of liver cancer in the group with the highest consumption of fish - once a day - is reduced by one third compared to those who eat fish no more than once a week.

Unsaturated fatty acids are found in such fish as saury, horse mackerel, and also in salmonids - ket, salmon, salmon.

Scientists believe that the results of studies may be related to the property of unsaturated fatty acids to suppress inflammatory processes in the liver.

At the same time, the researchers emphasize that the results do not mean that the same property to reduce the risk of cancer and have supplements containing unsaturated fatty acids.
