British researchers have been able to identify specific bone marrow cells that are able to transform into skin cells and repair them, reports the BBC..

The researchers found a mechanism that ensures the migration of bone marrow cells to the area of ??damage. The experiment was conducted on laboratory animals.

It turned out that 1 in 450 cells of the bone marrow can transform and give rise to skin cells. In this case, the fastest healing occurs when a transplant is used, due to which more bone marrow cells are involved in the damaged area.

Experts explained that the damaged area of ??the skin releases the protein HMGB1, which becomes a signal that mobilizes bone marrow cells. Experts hope on the basis of discovery to develop a new technique and create a drug for rapid healing of wounds on the skin.
