The meeting of the Strategic Group and the Commission of Formula 1 will be held next Tuesday. During the meeting, it must be finally approved the technical regulations for the season 2017, according to which the lap times on some autodrome should be less than five seconds.

Currently it matched only part of the regulations regarding aerodynamics, while other aspects remain to be resolved. Among other things, at the upcoming meeting will discuss the impact of new regulations on fuel consumption.

The discussion about the Regulation in 2017 discussed a plan by which the new generation of machines do not exacerbate the situation with the fuel economy.

New machines will not only be more massive tires, but the cars themselves will become wider.

Accordingly, they increase the level of drag, and as a result they will be using more fuel at the lap.

Over the past few months we have repeatedly voiced concerns that if the limit of 100 kg does not increase, the riders will have to save even more fuel than today.

Some automakers have agreed to give up the limit at all, but the full support of this idea was not - in particular, in the Mercedes want to Formula 1 has maintained an emphasis on green technologies.
