Instead of blocking Russian social networks, Ukraine should oppose them with quality journalism.

This was stated by the head of the German branch of the organization "Reporters without Borders" Christian Mir, reports Deutsche Welle.

"Ukraine could be opposed to this quality journalism. For example, to raise the budget of the Ukrainian foreign service. And to show what independent journalists are capable of, especially against the backdrop of what the Russian media do, where one-sided, state-controlled, reigns, journalism is emasculated. It would be a wonderful signal - to support independent journalists in Ukraine. To support those who are fighting for the independence of the media - at least by investigating attacks on journalists and murders that continue to occur there. Thus, the government of Ukraine would demonstrate its interest in ensuring that journalists work without any pressure from outside. Its main task for democracy in general and for resolving conflict situations in particular, journalists can fulfill only when they are not pressured and nobody is threatened, "he said. The world noted that it is impossible to punish news broadcasts.

"We constantly warned that the media would get involved in information wars unleashed by Russia. The mass media are platforms for delivering news and information, including platforms in social networks. You can not punish these platforms for spreading certain news. Information war declared? ? The Russian side unilaterally. But do not get involved in it.. Because information wars are evil. Free information is important for any society. And it is especially important for solving conflicts. This, of course, does not mean that no one is lying. This does not mean that there is no problem of fake news.

And still - when the means of dissemination of information are blocked, it is a question of freedom of information, which is unacceptable ".

As reported by "Observer", the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said that the Cabinet has already been instructed to work out a mechanism for implementing the decree on sanctions that relate to Russian web resources.
