The issue of liberalization of the visa regime for Ukrainian citizens will be discussed in the European Parliament on April 5-6. This follows from the work program of the EU legislature, published on the parliament's website.

According to the April 5 document, debates will be held on the draft legislative resolution on the introduction of Ukraine into the list of third countries for citizens whose visa requirements for entry into the EU are canceled. And on April 6 the deputies will vote on this issue. After that, the corresponding law should be adopted by the European Council.

Earlier, on March 2, the ambassadors of the member states of the European Union approved an informal agreement concerning the liberalization of the visa regime with Ukraine, which was reached on February 28 by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.

Citizens of Ukraine will have the opportunity to "enter the EU for 90 days in each 180-day period with business and tourist purposes, as well as for family matters".

To enter the territory of the EU, Ukrainians will need to have biometric passports. As in the case of Georgia, the visa-free regime does not allow citizens of Ukraine the right to work in the countries of the European Union.

Visa-free regime between the EU and Ukraine will come into force 20 days after the publication of the relevant document in the "Official Journal of the EU". As European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said earlier, a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens can be introduced until June 2017.
