Medvedev promised to raise the minimum wage to the subsistence level

Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports that Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, speaking to the State Duma deputies with an annual report, said that from July 1 of this year the minimum wage will be raised to 7.8 thousand rubles. In addition, in the next few years the minimum wage will be equal to the subsistence level.

Medvedev said that the government intends to comply with the guidelines laid down in the "May decrees" of the president in terms of salaries in education and medicine.

The Prime Minister noted: "The economic situation of recent years has affected the incomes of people negatively, wages in the country are low. We will continue to work to remedy the situation and come out with indicators that are defined in the decrees ".

The head of government asked the regions and deputies to take an active part in this work.

Dmitry Medvedev also recalled that the government regularly raises the minimum wage. Last year it reached 7.5 thousand rubles, and from July 1 this year it will be raised to 7,8 thousand rubles.

The head of government said: "In the next few years - the minimum wage will grow to the level of the living wage of the working. We have every opportunity to provide this ".
