RNS reports that Speaker of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin during a meeting in Moscow discussed with the leader of the party "National Front" and the candidate for the presidency of France Marin Le Pen the question of lifting anti-Russian sanctions.

Responding to an appropriate question from journalists, Volodin said: "We discussed".

The Chairman of the State Duma at the same time reminded that Le Pen had already made a statement regarding the lifting of sanctions against Russia in January of this year.

At a meeting with Volodin, Le Pen said: "I always advocated the lifting of sanctions, which I consider counterproductive".

As previously reported, Marin Le Pen arrived in Moscow for a meeting of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

At the beginning of this year, Marin Le Pen promised to officially recognize Crimea as part of Russia in case of victory in the presidential elections in France.
