Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevgeniy Khmara said that during one of the meetings after the change in the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers, he proposed to his predecessor Mikhail Fedorov to continue working together on projects, but without offering specific positions. When asked by journalists about Fedorov’s possible return to the Ministry of Defense as an adviser or in another role, Khmara replied that they had a meeting in July, at which he offered to find any model or format for continuing joint work. At the same time, the minister added that he has not yet received feedback from Fedorov.

At the same time, Khmara noted that he wants to preserve the Defense Ministry team that worked under Fedorov.

“Strong specialists with competence and state position remain in the ministry. Their task is to ensure continuity of work, continue important projects and strengthen those areas that require additional attention,” the minister said.

He added that he also plans to strengthen the team with new people.. As an example, he cited the appointment of Nikolai Shvidky as Deputy Minister, who will be responsible for the front. Lyubov Galan is also responsible for the development and preservation of human capital of the Defense Forces.

Thus, Khmara said that Anna Gvozdyar will return to the position of Deputy Minister, and for the digital direction they are looking for a person with combat experience and experience working in the Ministry of Defense, and for the direction of cognitive warfare a candidate has already been selected.

The minister noted that it was on his initiative that Sergei Boev was returned to the Ministry of Defense, since his experience is important for working with international partners.

Mikhail Fedorov was fired from the post of Minister of Defense along with the resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers Yulia Sviridenko. After this, he did not receive an offer of reappointment, although a number of ministers retained their positions. This caused outrage in society.

It is known that President Vladimir Zelensky offered Fedorov several other positions, but he rejected all offers and insisted on returning to the post of Minister of Defense. However, on August 19, the Verkhovna Rada, on the proposal of the president, appointed Evgeniy Khmara to this position.
