The National Bank issued a new 20 UAH coin. It is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the declaration of independence of Ukraine.

" He received blows, but did not break, he survived. This is a metaphor for Ukraine. And the hand of a Ukrainian soldier, firmly holding this shield, reminds that independence is defended by people, Ukrainian soldiers. They protect for the sake of the future, symbolizing a simple, like all real values, a child’s drawing - there is a child, a heart, a sun, a house on it. We bow our heads to those who gave their lives for these values,” the coin’s description says..

The obverse of the coin (obverse side) depicts the hand of a military man holding a shield. Above is an image of a child’s drawing serving as a talisman for the protector. At the top left are:.

The reverse (back side) shows the outer side of the shield with damage. It symbolizes the struggle for freedom and independence of the Ukrainian people.
