Geroni head coach Michel Sanchez commented on the team's move from La Liga to prepare for the 2025/26 season.
In the final, 38th round of the Spanish championship, the Catalans drew 1:1 with Jelche. To save a place in the elite division, Michel's team needed more victory, but Girona could not achieve the desired result.
After the match, the Spanish captain reacted emotionally to the setback and took responsibility for the turn on himself.
“It’s not an hour to analyze the whole season. We fought until the very end. One goal could change everything. We couldn't earn anything. I will always say that the coach is in favor of those who are on the field, and in this case my credentials.
I think we let our patients down, and I won. I feel the guilt and responsibility. This is so important. All the graves were crying. This is the most difficult moment in our careers for all of us,” said Michel.
Coach Gironi also said that the club needs to get ready after the recent season and turn out stronger.
“In five years I have seen growth, but today I am a little back. It’s important to accept this, please forgive us. Now we need to experience this and understand it, how to overcome it,” added the coach.
