Defending Ukraine, a soldier from the Poltava region, Roman Shamota, died. He took his last fight on May 11 in Zaporozhye.

On May 21, we said goodbye to the Hero, who will forever be 41 years old, in his small homeland. The Novosanzharsk community spoke about the defender.

“Again, bitter news shook our community - on May 11, 2026, during a combat mission, defending the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, a resident of the village of Krutaya Balka, Roman Grigorievich Shamota, died. The hero died during a combat mission in the Zaporozhye region,” the community noted.

Roman spent his childhood and youth in the village of Krutaya Balka. There he graduated from school. The young man continued his studies at the Poltava Construction Institute. “His acquaintances remember him as a sincere, hardworking and kind person,” notes Zmist..

Roman Shamota joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 17, 2024. And in May 2026, the defender’s life was cut short.

In the Poltava region, they said goodbye to the warrior who returned home on a shield on May 21. Fellow countrymen greeted the mournful cortege with a living corridor.

Roman Shamota was buried in the cemetery of the village of Krutaya Balka. “We bow our heads low in sorrow before the blessed memory of the Hero and express our sincere condolences to the family, friends and brothers-in-arms of Roman Shamota. Until his last breath, he courageously defended his native land and the Ukrainian people,” the Novosanzharsk community emphasized.

During the war years, he held back the enemy in different directions, where fierce battles took place.. Dmitry’s life was cut short on October 18 last year, but his relatives got the opportunity to see him off with dignity only now.

Dmitry Kulapov will forever remain 28 years old.
