Acting Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Alexander Bornyakov said that it is impossible to hold elections through “Diya”, since it will be difficult to observe secret voting there. Subpoenas will not be sent out through the application either.. He stated this in an interview with Forbes-Ukraine. According to him, for this it is necessary to resolve the issue of voting secrecy.

As the official explained, only after this issue has been resolved, it is worth moving on to the technical implementation of such an opportunity in Dii..

“When they say that “Diya” can be used in elections, this is impossible, because according to the Constitution it is necessary that there be secrecy of voting, so that our vote, anyone in Ukraine, where he put a tick, remains his secret information,” Bornyakov noted..

The official added that as of today this can only be implemented in voting booths.. Bornyakov also added that there are no plans to introduce subpoenas in Dii either.. In particular, the acting minister noted that the protection of personal data remains an important priority for Ukraine, which, according to him, is part of the requirements of the European Union. In addition, the official noted that official Kyiv must update legislation in the field of personal data protection to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - the general regulation of the European Union on the protection of personal data. Before this, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky explained that the United States demands that Ukraine hold presidential elections before the beginning of summer.

However, in the current conditions, according to him, when many Ukrainians are abroad or in occupied territories, it is extremely difficult to do this, but if holding elections can put an end to the war, then this can be done, but it is important that the voting takes place fairly. “I told my partners: “You need to decide one thing: do you want to get rid of me or do you want to hold elections? If you want to hold elections (even if you are not ready to tell me honestly even now), then hold these elections honestly. Conduct them in such a way that they are recognized first of all by the Ukrainian people. And you yourself must admit that these are legitimate elections,” said the head of state.

Let us recall that earlier Vladimir Zelensky stated that 90% of citizens do not support holding elections in Ukraine in conditions of a full-scale war. According to him, the majority of Ukrainians understand that expressing their will without a ceasefire and under fire is “terrible.”.
