Martial law has been introduced in Ukraine and general mobilization continues. During this period, as in times of peace, Ukrainians liable for military service must comply with the rules of military registration. The press service of the Ministry of Defense said whether young men at school will be checked for military registration documents (VUD).

The department explained that the school is obliged to check the availability of the VUD, and for the vast majority of conscripts it exists in electronic form.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that schools do not check young people’s mental health problems on their own initiative.. Thus, according to Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 1487 of December 30, 2022 “On approval of the Procedure for organizing and maintaining military records of conscripts, those liable for military service and reservists,” educational institutions are among the organizations required to maintain personal military records.

" This is the responsibility of the institution, and not an arbitrary requirement of a specific administration. Therefore, the requirement to provide the VUD is legal,” the department summarized.
