Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanishyna said that Europe's allocation of a 90 billion euro loan opens up the opportunity for Kyiv to pay for PAC-3 missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, capable of shooting down ballistics. In a commentary to Suspilna, she explained that the lack of funds and the outbreak of war in the Middle East were the obstacles due to which the Pentagon did not decide to send weapons - but now there is money.

Stefanishina also said that Kyiv’s partners are competing in order to mobilize resources for the purchase of PAC-3.

“There has already been a decision to allocate a loan of 90 billion euros. This means that a certain resource is being released that will make it possible to finance this particular initiative, which concerns PAC-3,” the diplomat said, adding that Kyiv had the opportunity to “at least form long-term commitments” on these missiles.

Let us remind you that on April 23, the European Union finally approved the allocation of a loan to Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion euros. Kyiv will receive the first tranche at the end of May - at the beginning of June, although Bankova expected that the money would be available by the end of April. The EU also clarified that in 2026 Ukraine will be allocated 28 billion for weapons and 17 billion for general support.. Subsequently, President Vladimir Zelensky noted that the state would use this loan to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the energy sector.
