Musician Valery Kharchyshyn shared that he and his colleagues in the group “Druha Rika” always had an unshakable position that they would create compositions exclusively in the Ukrainian language. The performer only once tried to move away from this belief and sing the track in Russian, but instantly felt strong disgust.
In addition, as the celebrity said in the project “Zi in essence,” then he had serious problems with writing the text, because the song was created in a studio in the aggressor country. For a long time he could not collect his thoughts and now he only feels shame for this musical work.
" This was recorded in Russia when we were invited by a friend who had a studio there. I didn’t have a text, I was walking in the forest near Moscow, and nothing came into my head. In the end, I wrote a text in Russian that I am ashamed of. I felt very bad then. I felt like I was wearing clothes that didn't fit and they were tight.. This mask was uncomfortable and disgusting,” the artist recalled.
Valery Kharchishin's career included several collaborations with Russians. During one collaboration, he once again tried to sing a fragment of a composition in the language of the aggressor country, but was so dissatisfied with the result that the work was ultimately not presented anywhere.
Another time, members of “Another River” recorded a joint track with the TOKIO group, where Ukrainian sounded. However, as Kharchyshyn shared, the track was deleted from the band’s concert program, because the co-authors are now quietly touring the Russian Federation and do not oppose the Kremlin’s policies.
" He is Ukrainian, but he has Russian identity. I decided to sing in Ukrainian, and he in Russian. It's a pity that we don't perform this song. The song is not bad, but the person with whom it was co-created, unfortunately, turned out to be a scumbag,” the musician said.
