The Ruslan Hanushchak International Prize has been established in Ukraine - an annual award for photographers, cameramen, videographers and documentarians who work on the topic of war and its consequences. The prize will be awarded on April 14 - the birthday of Ruslan Ganuschak - in honor of the memory of the journalist, documentarian and volunteer of the 92nd Assault Brigade, who died while performing his professional duty. The purpose of the Prize is to recognize authors for the courage, professionalism, ethical responsibility and social impact of their work, and to draw attention to documentary filmmaking as a key tool for preserving historical memory during wartime.. The award can be presented in one or more categories, in particular: Hero in the Frame - for the most powerful image from the front line or from a combat zone; Documentary Dignity - for stories of resilience among civilians, military or volunteers; Ruslan Hanushchak Prize - for projects to preserve the memory of fallen defenders and key episodes of resistance; Light of the Future - for young documentarians under 30; special award Silence in War - for images of humanity and beauty that contrast with the realities of war; Kino-slovo - for documentary essays, diaries and author's reflections; Discovery of the year - for new names in documentary filmmaking. Who can become a laureate The Prize can be applied for by authors who work in a combat zone or in conditions equivalent to front-line ones, document the war in Ukraine, comply with ethical standards and create works of high documentary and social value. Professional education is not compulsory. The laureates are determined by the Expert Council, which includes experts from the Foundation and representatives of the media and cultural community. Works are judged on professional excellence, documentary value, personal involvement of the author, and emotional and value impact.. The winners receive an honorary statuette of a Ukrainian artist and a cash prize in the equivalent of 1000 US dollars (unless otherwise provided by the decision of the Foundation). Ruslan Hanushchak - documentarian and journalist, whose work has become a visual chronicle of Ukraine's struggle for freedom.
