In the Odessa region, a criminal group was exposed, which illegally drained toxic waste, causing damage to the environment by 2.4 million UAH. The local deputy organized the scheme, he and four more accomplices were detained. This was reported by the office of the Prosecutor General on Friday, February 14.

The prosecutors reported suspicion of the deputy of the Safyanovsky village council and four participants in the criminal group on the fact of land pollution by waste and abuse of powers in order to obtain unlawful benefits (h.. 2 tbsp. 239, h. 2 tbsp. 364-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The official, uniting with his acquaintance, founded an enterprise officially engaged in agent service of courts. But in fact, it was used for illegal enrichment due to improper treatment of toxic waste and land pollution.

To hide criminal activity, they entered into a formal agreement with a licensed company to dispose of hazardous waste. However, this agreement remained only on paper - the counterparty did not receive it, and the actual execution of the transaction did not begin.

Three more people were attracted to the scheme. They controlled the cleaning of cargo compartments from linen water, containing a high concentration of oil products. The waste was pumped out to special tanks, and then instead of safe disposal, they illegally drained on the ground a landfill of solid household waste in the Izmail district.

As a result, there was a pollution of land with a total area of \u200b\u200bmore than 2200 sq m harmful to human health and the environment by substances. Environmental damage is estimated at more than 2.4 million UAH.
