Since the summer of 2024, in Ukraine, the number of attempts to illegally crossing the border has almost doubled. Most cases are fixed on the border with Romania and Moldova.

The representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrei Demchenko in Telmarafon told about this on February 10. According to him, in January 2025, the number of attempts to illegally cross the state border decreased by 45% compared to July 2024.

" If we compare January from July last year, then a decrease by 45%. However, attempts at illegal intersection continue daily, ”Demchenko said.

He added that most cases of illegal crossing of the border are fixed outside the checkpoints on the border with Romania and Moldova.

Less commonly, such attempts happen on the border with Hungary and Slovakia, and the least on the border with Poland.

At the same time, cases of illegal intersection are fixed directly at the checkpoints.

Most of all such attempts are recorded on the border with Poland, which is associated with a high passenger flow, Demchenko noted.

He also emphasized that those who wish to illegally leave Ukraine often turn to persons organizing criminal schemes.

In most cases, this endanates people in danger, since routes pass through rivers and mountainous areas.

Demchenko also said that since the beginning of a full -scale invasion, more than 760 organized groups were exposed to illegally crossing men across the border.

In January 2025 alone, it was possible to detect about 40 such groups.
