The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supports Ukraine to complete the construction of two nuclear power units at the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant and considers it a wise and timely solution for Ukraine.

This was announced during a visit to Ukraine by the General Director of the Agency Rafael Grossy.

He noted that the blocks of the Khmelnitsky station are on a high degree of readiness and significant efforts and investments have already been attached there.

During a meeting with the head of the Magate Grossy, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also emphasized the importance of the completion of power units and called on the parliament to make the necessary decisions as quickly as possible.

" This will really be a great contribution to the stability of the country's energy system. And now the ball, you know, on the side of the Ukrainian parliament. We are one here with the IAEA that parliamentarians should make a decision very quickly. We have such an opportunity to provide Ukraine with two additional blocks, ”the president said.

The head of the Magate also emphasized that the agency is ready to provide the necessary technical support in the process of implementing the project and the work in this direction has already begun.

Recall that the power unit No. 3 of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant is 80%ready, block No. 4 - by 25%.

In April, the Government of Ukraine approved the project for completing the station. According to government plans, power unit No. 3 will be connected to the network in only 3 years.
