The energy deficit is already infringing on the possibilities of the Ukrainian economy. Without new generating capacities, the country will not be able to launch large-scale industrial projects, in particular, in the military-industrial complex, which is critical of defense capacity and economic growth. This was stated by economic expert Alexei Kushch.

" The completion of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant based on existing structures and the use of reactors that are now high in Bulgaria is the fastest and most effective way to solve the problem of electricity deficiency, ”Kushch notes.

In the conditions of war and the growth of energy consumption due to the needs of the defense industry, Ukraine cannot rely only on European electricity markets.

" We run the risk of getting a situation where the lack of electricity will slow down the development of critical production, on which the country's defense capacity depends, ”the expert emphasizes.

Kushch notes that the purchase of VVER-1000 reactors in Bulgaria is an economically justified step, because their integration into the existing infrastructure will be much faster and cheaper than the construction of new power units from scratch. " In conditions when Ukraine spends billions on electricity imports, not to use this chance is irresponsible, ”he adds.

Recall that in the near future the Verkhovna Rada should vote a bill on the purchase of atomic reactors in Bulgaria.
