The suspension of USAID financing in Ukraine by decision of US President Donald Trump will not have a critical influence on financing the social sphere. The fact is that Ukraine receives funds for social assistance to the population mainly through other programs.
This was stated by the Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich at the press briefing “The Year of Changes and Achievements in Social Protection”. “The stop of non-military assistance from the United States has not yet affected the financing of our projects in Ukraine,” said the head of the Ministry of Social Policy.
According to her, Ukraine has “a large number of agreements” with partners from Europe, with the UK, as well as with the World Bank. In addition, American assistance for Ukrainian state social programs did not come through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
" It concerns support for the public sector,” Zholnovich said.
According to her, the Ministry of Social Policy Analyzes the consequences of the termination of financing USAID projects. In particular, it is established which of the many contractors was left without financial support.
" But in general, the situation is not critical for us, ”the minister said.
