The chief fish inspector of the State Fisheries Agency in the Khmelnytsky region is suspected of illegally catching and selling fish on an especially large scale. We are talking about causing damage to the state in the amount of UAH 7 million.

The detention of the official was announced on January 21 by the Office of the Prosecutor General and the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.. The man is charged with organizing and directly engaging in illegal fishing, which caused significant harm to the state, as well as abuse of official position (h. 2, h. 3 tbsp. 27, h. 1 tbsp. 249, h. 2 tbsp. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in July 2024, a suspected of poaching, using his official position, organized illegal fishing for p. Dniester and adjacent protected areas.

As a result, in the company of two accomplices, with the help of a fishing network, he caught about 700 fish.

At the same time, about 30% of the catch was Black Sea carp, listed in the Red Book, the rest - bream, carp, pike perch and others. Fishing was organized to sell it. The amount of loss to the state amounted to about 7 million UAH.

Pre -trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators Khmelnitsky TU GBR.

For organizing and direct occupation by illegal fishing on especially large sizes, as well as for abuse of official position, the poacher threatens from 3 to 6 years in prison.
