One of the most noticeable young stars in our Galaxy Milky Way will soon disappear for about 100 years, since a thick disk of gas and dust will close it. But this is a chance for astronomers to better understand our solar system. The study has been accepted for publication in The Astronomical Journal, writes Space.

The variable star T Tauri is 471 light years away and its brightness varies unpredictably. This is a very young star, several million years old, while the Sun is more than 4.5 billion years old.. In fact, T Tauri is a triple star system that is one of the most famous young stars in our galaxy.

Of all three stars in the Ta system, only one can be seen in the visible range of light - t.. Two other stars, which form a double system and are called the South A and Ta Taurus South B, rotate around the main star at a distance of almost 15 billion km and make a full revolution around it in 4600 years. The last two stars can only be seen in the infrared range of light, because they are covered by a thick disk of dust and gas.. As the study showed, the disk of T Tauri South has now begun to cover the star T Tauri North and, as astronomers predict, this star will disappear from view for about 100 years.

Previously, the brightness of this star has always changed, but on average it was at a level of 10.2. The lower the magnitude number, the easier it is to see with the naked eye.. For example, people can see stars without telescopes whose brightness is no higher than magnitude 6.

As the study showed, the star of the North has become more dull, and now it has a stellar value of 12. Scientists' calculations have shown that the star will continue to darken.

The disk of gas and dust that obscures the stars T Tauri south A and B from view in visible light makes the binary system's brightness equivalent to magnitude 20. That is, it is very dense and dense and will now also cover T Taurus North.

At the same time, according to astronomers, the darkening of the star T Tauri North has positive consequences for scientists. When a disk of gas and dust closes a completely main star in a triple system, the light of the star will be filtered through gas and dust and begins to absorb on certain wavelengths of molecules inside the disk. This will allow astronomers to see what gases and particles this disk is made of.

Given that in this disk planets will be formed in the future, the darkening of the stars of the North is a unique opportunity for astronomers to study the environment of planets. Particularly visible will be the outer part of the disk, which is equivalent to the Kuiper belt at the edge of the solar system.. In this region far from the Sun, there are millions of ice bodies, including the dwarf planet Pluto. Watching the darkening of a young star will provide a glimpse into the history of our solar system, which was also born from a disk of gas and dust surrounding the young Sun billions of years ago..

As for the Sun, as Focus already wrote, in March of this year it will be possible to observe a solar eclipse. In some regions of the Earth, the Moon will be visible to cover more than 90% of the Sun.

Focus also wrote that physicists were surprised when they discovered mysterious magnetic properties in the famous metal. Vismuth demonstrates amazing behavior when exposed to magnetic fields and this can be used when creating electronics.
