Former world heavyweight champion Denis Lebedev spoke disrespectfully towards the legendary Vladimir Klitschko, who plans to return to the ring. The Russian said outright nonsense that he did not understand how the Ukrainian achieved victories and reached incredible heights in boxing.
Lebedev stated this in an interview with the Sport24 portal. The representative of the Russian Federation, who is known for entering the ring in the uniform of a soldier of the airborne forces, with which he has never had anything to do, added with undisguised envy that Klitschko Jr. has a chance to make a victorious comeback.
" Usually heavyweights are not very worn out, but not in the case of Klitschko. It's already worn out. But at heavyweight there's always an opportunity to hit. So he has one chance. Klitschko never really shined, although his career was normal. How he won, due to what, I don’t know. Only God knows this. But we must pay tribute. After all, Klitschko is a champion, he fought with top boxers. I'm sure his time has passed. Returning to boxing is not a good idea. But he can be understood. Like many boxers who have retired, sometimes they want to come back. I think he needs to come back to understand that it's not worth coming back. His time has passed,” Lebedev said.
Klitschko fought his last fight in April 2017, when he lost by TKO to Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs). Before that, he lost by unanimous decision to Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs). The Ukrainian and the Briton were supposed to have a rematch, but Klitschko’s opponent abandoned it and vacated all the belts.
Vladimir had 69 fights, in which he scored 64 victories (54 by knockout). He set a historic record by defeating 23 opponents in championship matches..
Klitschko recently broke his silence about his return. In addition, it became known that Alexander Usik (23-0, 14 KOs) could contribute to his compatriot’s comeback to the professional ring.
