“When I was not yet involved in boxing, I played football, attended the judo section, but my dad was a big fan of sports, in particular boxing. When we lived in a village near Chernigov, my father woke me up every Sunday at seven or six in the morning because boxing was shown on Ukrainian television.

I watched the fights of Klitschko, Tyson, Lewis, many others, Holyfield, Manny Pacquiao, Cotto, Trinidat... Who was my favorite? Muhammad Ali, although I didn’t watch his fights live. And I liked Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, Bernard Hopkins - they are all amazing boxers,” Usik said in an interview with The Ring.
