The leader of the Antitila group, Ukrainian singer Taras Topolya spoke about the completion of the court case against Lutsk businessman Sergei Lapkovsky. As you know, Lapkovsky registered a patent in 2012 for “a method for adjusting the parameters of a musical composition”. And after that, he and his associates filed a lawsuit against Antitil.. The businessman demanded more than a million hryvnia from the group for the allegedly illegal use of his patent in songs, which involved a combination of certain musical keys and tempos. In turn, Antitila went to court with a request to cancel the absurd patent law. They noted that “patent trolls” took advantage of imperfections in legislation and simply decided to profit. Their scheme is simple - to create a patent for something that has already existed for centuries. As a result, the group won and obliged Lapkovsky to pay them compensation in the amount of 50 thousand. UAH. The man filed an appeal, but in November last year the judge dismissed the case in favor of Antitil..

As a result, the long-term legal battle between the group and the businessman was terminated. However, Taras put the finishing touches today, January 20. On his Instagram, the musician published a photo where he shows an obscene gesture and sharply addresses Lapkovsky. In addition, the artist showed a screenshot as proof that the patent was officially declared invalid.

“With this photo I convey my last greetings to the scammer Lapkovsky. The patent “for sheet music”, with which he attacked Antitila and wanted to further terrorize Ukrainian music creators, has been completely canceled. Period,” summed up Topolya.
