Officials of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Logistics Forces were exposed for purchasing spare parts for armored vehicles at inflated prices. The damage amounted to UAH 83 million, the SBI reported on Monday, January 20.

Suspicion was received by the head of one of the central departments of the Command of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the head of a department of this department and the former director of a private enterprise.

According to the bureau, in 2022, in one of the departments of the Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the director of a private enterprise provided a commercial proposal for the supply of necessary spare parts.

“At the same time, he deliberately inflated the price of the products and did not have relevant experience in the manufacture and delivery of such products,” the report says..

It is noted that the department officials responsible for the purchase knew that there were other suppliers, but did not conduct appropriate checks of the enterprise’s offer and prices on the market, “formally negotiated with the enterprise and declared it the winner.”.

“Because of this, two contracts were signed for the supply of spare parts at inflated prices.. The total contract amount was more than 171 million hryvnia. Based on the results of the examinations, it was established that the state suffered damage of more than 83 million hryvnias,” the State Bureau of Investigation said..

The head of one of the central departments of the Command of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the head of a department of this department, as indicated in the bureau, was informed of suspicion of abuse of official authority, committed under martial law, by prior conspiracy (h. 2 tbsp. 28, h. 5 tbsp. 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The ex-director of a private enterprise was informed of suspicion of misappropriation of property through abuse of official position (h. 5 tbsp. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the articles provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 12 years with confiscation of property.

Searches were carried out at the residence of the defendants. The presentation of a petition to select a preventive measure in the form of detention is being prepared.

The investigation continues, facts of legalization by the director of the enterprise of money received for spare parts are being investigated.
