The UN Security Council plans to meet on the situation in Ukraine: when will the meeting take place?

The UN Security Council will meet on Thursday, January 16. The meeting will discuss the situation in Ukraine in connection with the military actions of the aggressor country Russia.

Ukrinform reported this. The publication refers to information from a staff correspondent in New York.

As it became known, the UN Security Council meeting will be held at the request of Slovenia and the United States, which previously consulted with the Ukrainian delegation.

According to the Security Council Secretariat, a representative of the UN Department of Political Affairs will speak at the meeting.

The event is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Eastern American time (10 p.m. Kyiv time).

Let us recall that the previous meeting of the Security Council on Ukraine took place on December 16. It was convened due to massive Russian shelling of civilians and critical infrastructure of our country.

At this meeting, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, issued another nonsense. He said that Russia will not accept any scenarios for freezing the war, and Moscow considers Zelensky’s peace initiatives an attempt to gain time to intensify the fight against the Russian Federation. According to Nebenzi, Russia is ready for negotiations, but only with those who can “accept reality and end the war.”.
