At first it seemed to Edgar that he was pushing things too hard, but the tragic events that happened later showed how right he was.

The Eton Fire ripped through McGregor's home, destroying at least 7,000 buildings and killing 16 people.. Edgar watched as the fire reduced the houses of his neighbors and hundreds of houses in the blocks around his home, which miraculously survived, to ruins.

McGregor is an avid hiker and has watched with dismay as his local canyons fill with brush and leaf litter that act as fire sources..
