On Tuesday, January 14, Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with European Council President Antonio Costa. During it, the Chinese leader outlined the PRC's position regarding its commitment to a peaceful settlement of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine through negotiations.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. They noted that during the conversation both sides exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine.

Xi Jinping also assured Costa that China considers Europe an important pole in a multipolar world and supports European integration and the EU's strategic autonomy.
