According to the “Danish model” of support for the defense industry, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received weapons worth almost 538 million euros in 2024. The Ministry of Defense reports this. These funds are the result of agreements concluded in 2024 with the Danish Ministry of Defense to finance projects for the purchase of weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers. Sources of funding - the governments of Denmark (125 million euros through the Danish national UkraineFund), Sweden (20 million euros), Iceland (2.7 million? euros) and interest on frozen Russian assets (390 million euros). As you know, last year Ukraine began with Denmark a new mechanism for financing the purchase of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, called the “Danish model”. It involves financing of Ukrainian defense enterprises by the Danish government. Ukraine is forming a list of projects that need financing, and Danish specialists are checking the recommended companies, assessing their ability and experience in fulfilling contracts, the Ministry of Defense noted.. " I am also amazed at the speed that the Ukrainian defense industry can provide. Support on the front lines or on the road is important, and I hope more countries will consider supporting Ukraine through its defense industry. At the first stage of the “Danish model” implementation, Ukraine received Bogdan self-propelled artillery mounts. Later, the production of long-range drones, anti-tank and anti-ship missiles was financed. As noted by the Ministry of Defense, purchases from the Ukrainian defense industry have significant advantages: fast delivery times; competitive prices; possibility of organizing training and maintenance close to the front. In addition, such purchases support the Ukrainian economy during the war, saving jobs and promoting the development of domestic industry. Let us remind you that the Danish government allocated 2.1 billion Danish kroner (more than 281 million euros) to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. It was also reported that Lithuania will invest 10 million euros in the production of the Ukrainian Palyanitsa missile-drone, following the example of the “Danish model” of direct financing of the manufacturer.
