Dnepr-1 decided to stop cooperation with Brazilian legionnaires Vitinho, Marcos Andre and Varzhao, who refused to return to Dnepr after another Russian shelling.

This was announced by the commercial director of the UPL club Vyacheslav Fridman in a comment to the Telegram channel “Dnіpryanin”:.

“This decision of the guys was influenced by the events that happened on the night of February 13. There is a video of how the entire youth team, living at the base in Pridneprovsk, was in the basement all night. You need to understand that the area there is not very safe, far from the center, there is a critical energy infrastructure facility nearby.

All the players went through a lot of stress, and while our local guys may have gotten used to it, the Brazilians were very scared. They communicate with each other, so this information also reached the Brazilians who went to the training camp. Recent shelling only strengthened their decision to leave. How can you keep them? They are loaned players, we won’t mock people, so we buy them tickets and they go home. They will not give their all to football, they will be afraid, there is no point in supporting them."

After 17 rounds, Dnepr-1 with 34 points ranks second in the Ukrainian Championship standings. The team plays home matches in Dnipro.
