At least 10% of the population of Ukraine will be involved in veteran services after the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Minister for Veterans Affairs Yulia Laputina spoke about this in an interview with Radio Liberty.

She noted that the number of citizens who will have the status of a veteran after the war will increase by 4 times, and will amount to about 4-5 million people involved in veteran policy..

" These are, of course, people who were wounded and disabled as a result of the war, as well as members of the families of our dead soldiers" And, of course, these are generally members of all the families of those people who defended Ukraine at the front,"

" And this is the largest percentage among other countries that also have veterans and a veterans policy,"

Laputina noted that about a year before demobilization, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs should provide a person with a clear list of tools where a person can fulfill himself upon returning to civilian life.. After all, the age of today's military personnel, who will become veterans tomorrow, will be from 25 to 45 years old - these are able-bodied people for whom benefits or subsidies do not solve the issue.

“A person has received combat experience and then must come home, to his family, integrate into the community, get the opportunity to retrain for some civilian specialty and then find a job,” the minister explained..

Earlier it was reported that the status of a participant in hostilities will be able to receive civilians who, since the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion, stood up for Ukraine, but did not join official military formations or law enforcement agencies, but fought on the basis of volunteers.
