The Ukrainian women's saber fencing team won the World Cup stage, which took place in Batumi, Georgia.
The team was represented by Olga Kharlan, Alina Komashchuk, Elena Kravatskaya and Yulia Bakastova. In the final, they met with the US team and won with a score of 45:42.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian national team was only the 15th seed, and already in the 1/8 finals the team beat the world ranking leader France with a score of 45:44. On the way to the championship, the Ukrainians also beat two more teams from the top 8 of the world ranking - Azerbaijan and Italy.
For the Ukrainian women's team, this is the first victory at the World Cup stage in saber fencing since January 2016. Ukrainian women have risen to 11th place in the world ranking and will lead the qualification for the 2024 Olympics.
