The Ministry for the Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure decided from May 8 to suspend the requirement for permits for Polish carriers carrying out transportation to Ukraine from any country of the European Union. The Ministry of Reconstruction announced this on Facebook..
The ministry took such a step to stop the blocking of the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint by Polish carriers and satisfy one of the key claims of the strikers. Those did not like the fines for the lack of permits for transportation to Ukraine from third EU countries.
“Our position is unequivocal: such transportations are not subject to the Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on freight transportation and are not bilateral, and therefore require permits,” said Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov. He says that the ministry sent a letter to the European Commission asking for clarification and suspended the imposition of fines for the time being..

Ukraine was forced to let them do this due to the difficult situation at the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint due to the strike of Polish drivers.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Sergiy Derkach says that now more than 5,000 trucks cannot cross our biggest checkpoint. It is impossible to distribute cargo traffic in conditions of limited throughput and blockade of seaports.
