The Brusilov community of the Zhytomyr region is an example of how successfully it is possible to cope with the acceptance of immigrants without involving the central government. How the farm works in a small community, where 2.5 thousand migrants are registered, was told by its head Vladimir Gabenets, with whom Irina Latysh spoke as part of a joint project CHESNO and ZN. U.A..

" Only six safe regions of Ukraine in the West are recognized by Europe, and entrepreneurs are motivated to move their business there. This is hard enough. We have a lot of land for agriculture, we could offer our territories for further development,” Gabenets answered the question of whether there are enterprises that have moved their business to Brusilov.

As for schools, on September 1, 55 IDP children went offline to study. At the same time, despite the bomb shelters equipped there, some of the children study remotely.. In total, about 200 displaced children are registered in the community..

According to Gabenets, people who fled the war and settled in the Brusilov community are integrating in different ways.. According to him, you still need to study for a long time, because people are different..

“There are people with stress, there are people with injuries. Many of them want to return, but they have nowhere. There is an idea that in such small communities as ours, where there is already a ready-made infrastructure, with the help of the state, they will build new housing for such people. It would be easier than rebuilding those cities that have been completely destroyed and are still under temporary occupation. All communications, gasification are already ready here, this would reduce the financial pressure on the budget of the whole country,” said Gabenets.

According to him, the community allocated a hectare of land for such needs.. Gabenets assured that the infrastructure of the society will withstand the additional load, because it was able to withstand it in the first months of a full-scale invasion.. However, there is still a problem with the employment of people.

Vladimir Gabenets also told how exactly his small community manages to successfully cope with the situation with IDPs. Brusilov in the Zhytomyr region is experiencing a wave of migrants for the second time. The first occurred after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and the second - in connection with the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
