Negotiations between WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) and WBC title holder Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) are at an impasse due to disagreements over the distribution of the fee for the fight.
This was told by the promoter of the Ukrainian boxer Alexander Krasyuk.
" Surely it doesn't work if someone talks about specific amounts. This is not our party.
We want this fight to take place and we are ready to share the profits. It's all about fame, legacy, fights like this haven't happened before, so we want it to happen..
We are open and ready to meet. Perhaps someone wants to avoid danger and stay in a comfortable position. I don't know, I really don't care. If Tyson doesn't come out to fight, we still have the belts, we'll move on,"
The promoter also revealed the details of the negotiations:.
“At first we agreed to split the fee equally, but then Tyson asked for a little more money.. We made it clear that we are ready to go for a 60/40 distribution, when the winner gets 60. This was our last offer.. Fury refused.
Usually when a fighter doesn't want to fight, he asks for something impossible so that the fight doesn't happen.. On the other hand, I am very optimistic. Perhaps Tyson is not yet ready mentally or physically, it's none of our business. If he doesn't want to, we can't force him.. Someday the fight must take place"
Recall that the winner of the Usyk-Fury fight will become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.. The Ukrainian boxer has already held this title in the heavyweight division.
