The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has decided to suspend the president of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation and head coach of the Russian national team Irina Viner for two years..

The decision is published on the official FIG website.

Viner is prohibited from participating or receiving accreditation in any capacity in international competitions under the auspices of the FIG.. At the same time, the disqualification will take effect one day after the lifting of sanctions with the removal of Russians in connection with a full-scale military invasion of Russia in Ukraine.

Irina Viner distinguished herself with statements criticizing refereeing after the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, where Russian Dina Averina took second place. The words of the coach of the Russian national team are recognized as violating the FIG rules.

In addition, the suspension is a consequence of the withdrawal of the candidacy of Natalia Kuzmina in the 2021 elections from the Russian Federation to the FIG technical committee. Viner then stated that Kuzmina had lost her candidate status after her refereeing the performance of the sisters Dina and Arina Averin at the Tokyo Games.

It is worth noting that Viner is the wife of Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov..
