The French Football Federation president Noel Le Grey announced his resignation after the start of a criminal investigation based on allegations of sexual harassment by the 81-year-old functionary.. Back in September 2022, the French edition of So Foot published an investigative report that said Le Gre sent obscene letters to female colleagues and frequently discussed the female body.. Then no one reacted to this, but already in January, the president of the French Football Federation got into a series of scandals that cost him his position.. First, he arbitrarily, without informing the executive committee, extended the contract with the French national team coach Didier Deschamps, then there was criticism of the icon of French football Zinedine Zidane, and only further - public accusations of sexual claims from women who worked with Le Gre. After the accusations, the prosecutor's office began an investigation and the case went to court.. As a consequence, French Minister of Sports Amelie Oudea-Castera invited an audit of Le Gre's activities to the General Inspectorate for Education, Sports and Research (IGESR). Immediately after this, Le Gre, without waiting for the results of the audit, announced that he was temporarily resigning as president of the FFF at the time of the investigation.. Thus, the official did not jeopardize the image of the French Football Federation. On February 28, after the publication of the results of the audit, Le Grey announced his resignation. Thus, the French colleague demonstrated to our functionaries how such situations should be dealt with in a civilized manner - without unfounded accusations about pressure from the authorities or the court, about complaints to FIFA and UEFA and threats to expel France from these organizations. Let's see what is happening now in Ukrainian football. UAF President Andrey Pavelko is under investigation in the case of the construction of an artificial grass plant and the purchase of equipment for it through an offshore intermediary. The court elected the head of the Ukrainian Football Association a preventive measure in the form of detention, but Pavelko, together with UAF Secretary General Yuriy Zapisotsky, was released on bail - almost twenty million hryvnias for two. Of course, this spoils the image of the UAF in the international arena, but Andrei Pavelko is not going to leave his post or at least temporarily resign at the time of the investigation.. What for? Threatening exclusion of Ukraine from FIFA and UEFA due to state pressure looks much more promising for Ukrainian football. Let's draw a parallel with the already former president of the French Football Federation (FFF) Noel Le Grey, who announced his resignation due to scandals related to allegations of sexual harassment. As Andrei Pavelko himself noted at a meeting with journalists on January 24, he does not appear in such cases, but this does not look like a very confident excuse.. After all, Andriy Pavelko is on trial for corruption. And corruption, like sexual pretensions, is a criminal offense. And being featured in such a case definitely affects the image of the UAF in the international arena, especially when the world's leading media write about it.. Back in November, the court chose a measure of restraint for the President of the UAF in a criminal case, but so far, due to the constant delay of the defense side, no decision has been made on the case. And Pavelko himself is not going to leave his post (even for the duration of the investigation), but rather says that this is pressure from the state, as well as the insidious actions of Russian forces that are trying to frustrate Ukraine's plans to achieve the 2030 World Cup together with Spain and Portugal. Interestingly, the appearance in the criminal case of the President of the UAF increases the chances of Ukraine to host the World Cup?
